Hong Kong Airport Authority Chairman Fred Lam Tin-fuk has indicated that Central Asia has the potential to become a strategic logistics hub for Hong Kong. This suggestion comes amid ongoing conflicts in the Middle East and Europe, which have disrupted traditional trade routes. Lam noted a significant surge in cargo volume between Hong Kong and two countries in Central Asia, with a nearly fivefold increase year-on-year. He also mentioned that passenger traffic at Hong Kong International Airport is anticipated to reach 70 million this year, approaching pre-pandemic levels. Lam was part of a recent delegation led by Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu to Central Asia.
