In a separate development, Banerjee was summoned and questioned by the West Bengal Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for over five hours regarding an alleged signature forgery case. He is scheduled to appear before the CID again on June 14 for further questioning.
Concurrently, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has initiated searches at eight different locations. These searches include two residences belonging to Trinamool Congress MLA Madan Mitra. The ED's investigation centers on an alleged multi-crore cash-for-municipalities job scam, specifically focusing on recruitment irregularities within the Kamarhati Municipality.
