The searches are allegedly connected to over 1,000 cases where men were illegally removed from the draft register. This situation highlights persistent issues within Ukraine's mobilization system, where bribery for exemptions or removal from the register is reportedly common.

According to local journalist Vitalii Hlahola, who cited law enforcement sources, several current and former staff members had their homes searched. Hlahola also reported that two former officials, Yevhen Pilhui and Ihor Hvozdynets, have been charged. Other Ukrainian media outlets, including Ukrainska Pravda and RBC-Ukraine, also reported on the alleged searches, citing their own sources.

However, the draft office of Zakarpattia Oblast denied these reports on Facebook, stating they were inaccurate. Sources cited by Hlahola suggested that around 500 men involved in the scheme had already left Ukraine, with bribes for these services reportedly reaching up to $20,000. Ukraine's State Bureau of Investigation, which typically handles such cases, did not respond to requests for comment.

Forced mobilization remains a significant source of social and political tension in Ukraine, as the military's need for personnel clashes with a reluctance to serve among some eligible men. While legal exemptions exist for those in essential roles or the defense industry, illegal methods include paying for fake medical documents or removal from the register.
