Two teenagers have been arrested after a girl was critically injured in an incident involving a "small articulated loading vehicle" in Chalkwell Park, Southend-on-Sea.
Essex Police were called to the park in the early hours of Saturday morning at around 12:30 BST following reports that a group had taken unauthorized control of the vehicle. The incident resulted in significant injuries to a teenage girl, who has been taken to hospital and remains in a critical condition.
An 18-year-old man from Westcliff-on-Sea and a 17-year-old boy from Leigh-on-Sea have been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. They are currently in custody for questioning.
Officers are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or has video footage to come forward, as a large number of young people were reportedly in the area at the time. A cordon remained in place in the park.
