The German Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA) recorded a total of 486 criminal offences against the media in 2025. Of these, 54 were violent offences, including 41 cases of bodily harm and 13 classified as resistance offences. Perpetrators linked to 'foreign ideology' accounted for the largest share of these violent acts with 26 cases. The left-wing spectrum saw 15 violent offences, all bodily harm. The right-wing spectrum registered nine violent offences, also all bodily harm. Among the cases that could be categorised by ideology, the largest share fell to the right-wing spectrum with 150 offences, followed by 102 cases linked to 'foreign ideology', 43 from the left-wing spectrum, and 10 associated with a 'religious ideology'. 181 cases could not be clearly assigned to any ideology. Separately, Donald Trump has threatened to impose 100% tariffs on European goods if the EU proceeds with a digital services tax.
