The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency (SMPA) has established the International Capital Police Council (ICPC) in collaboration with the police agencies of six other capital cities. This initiative aims to bolster cooperation in combating transnational crimes.
The council was formally launched following a three-day meeting that concluded on Tuesday, bringing together police chiefs from China, Vietnam, the Philippines, Cambodia, Uzbekistan, and the Netherlands. During the meeting, the SMPA presented a list of 64 key overseas fugitives, and the participating nations committed to collaborating on their swift apprehension and repatriation.
Discussions also encompassed sharing best practices for public order and developing cooperative strategies to address transnational criminal activities. The member countries agreed to continue their collaboration through the council, with the next meeting slated to take place in either Manila or Beijing in the latter half of 2027.
