President Lee Jae Myung's approval rating has continued to decline, falling for the sixth consecutive week to 46.5 percent, according to a poll released Monday. This marks the second week in a row that his approval has stayed below 50 percent. The poll, commissioned by the EKN newspaper and conducted by Realmeter, also showed a slight decrease in disapproval ratings to 49.5 percent.
Realmeter attributed the dip in approval to ongoing controversies surrounding the National Election Commission's handling of ballots during local elections, concerns about the economy and livelihoods, and political disputes over the potential abolition of the prosecution's right to conduct supplementary investigations. The weekly survey involved 2,502 adults and had a margin of error of plus or minus 2 percentage points.
In a separate survey by Realmeter, support for the ruling Democratic Party increased by 0.9 percentage point to 41 percent. Conversely, the main opposition People Power Party saw its support drop by 0.3 percentage point to 42 percent. This latter poll surveyed 1,002 individuals and had a margin of error of plus or minus 3.1 percentage points.
