Two men have been sentenced to life in prison for the murder of a "beloved father" who was stabbed on his doorstep in Kilwinning, North Ayrshire. Marshall Strachan, 21, and Kieran Lindsay, 21, were found guilty of murder after a trial at the High Court in Glasgow.
John Taylor, 44, was assaulted on October 18, 2024, when Strachan stabbed him in the abdomen. The attack occurred after an apparent issue between Lindsay and Mr. Taylor. Neighbours reported seeing Mr. Taylor's intestines hanging out following the "significant stab wound."
Kiey O'Connor, 29, who drove Strachan and Lindsay to the scene in a Volkswagen Polo, was initially charged with murder, but the charge was later dropped. O'Connor was unaware of the planned attack and later sold the car. Strachan and Lindsay were observed burning potential evidence shortly after the incident.
Judge Lord Arthurson sentenced Strachan and Lindsay to a minimum of 18 years behind bars, describing the crime as a "pre-planned, targeted, violent retribution" and noting the "concerted nature" of the attack. The judge stated that Mr. Taylor's death has left an "unfillable void" for his loved ones.
