Former Thai MP confesses on YouTube after allegedly killing official

Yenprasert, who was a former police official and the president of the Nonthaburi Provincial Administrative Organisation, sustained a fatal gunshot wound to the neck and died in the hospital. His driver was also injured, receiving shots to the arm and hand.

During a press conference at a police station, Reawraeng, who was seen smoking, stated that Yenprasert was "angry" at him but did not elaborate on the cause of the dispute. He claimed he did not intend to shoot Yenprasert, whom he described as a "good friend," but stated he fired after Yenprasert's driver pulled out a gun and pointed it at him.

Local media reports suggest the shooting stemmed from a personal dispute between the two men. Paireerak, reacting with shock on her livestream, urged the caller to wait for the police.

The shooting is expected to intensify the debate surrounding gun control in Thailand, a country with a high rate of gun ownership in Southeast Asia. Following a separate school shooting, Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul had ordered stricter enforcement of gun laws and proposed measures to tighten controls on firearm possession and use.
