A 38-year-old man, identified as Mithilesh Shukla, has been arrested by Lucknow Police for allegedly impersonating an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer. The incident began on the night of June 13 when officers responded to a dispute at a tea stall near Gol Market crossing, reportedly over a payment issue between Shukla and the shopkeeper. Upon arrival, police found Shukla engaged in a heated argument. During questioning, Shukla allegedly claimed to be an IPS officer from Noida and questioned the police personnel for not saluting him and for not wearing their caps. When asked to produce identification, he reportedly stated he would retrieve it later. A video of the incident later circulated on social media. On June 15, police received another complaint regarding Shukla at the same tea stall, leading to his apprehension for further questioning. During interrogation, Shukla reportedly confessed that he worked as an account executive at a company in Noida and was not an IPS officer. The Mahanagar Police have registered a case against him under charges of impersonating a public servant and obstructing government work.
