SAO PAULO, June 16 (Reuters) - Brazil's President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva has extended his advantage over Senator Flavio Bolsonaro in a potential runoff for the October general elections, according to a CNT/MDA poll released on Tuesday.
The poll indicates that Lula would secure 49.3% of the votes in a runoff scenario, while Flavio Bolsonaro, son of former President Jair Bolsonaro, would receive 36.8%.
This represents a widening of Lula's lead since an April survey, where he garnered 44.9% of the votes compared to Bolsonaro's 40.2%.
The CNT/MDA poll interviewed 2,002 individuals across 143 Brazilian municipalities between June 10 and June 14. The survey has a margin of error of 2.2 percentage points in either direction.
