Four US House lawmakers, representing diverse ideological backgrounds and caucuses, have united to launch the Congressional Free Enterprise Caucus. August Pfluger (Republican Study Committee), Lou Correa (Blue Dog Coalition), David Valadao (Republican Governance Group), and Brad Schneider (New Democrat Coalition) believe that the American free enterprise system is fundamental to the nation's economic and military strength, as well as a core American value.
The lawmakers stated that while disagreements on policy exist, there is a shared belief in the power of a market-based economy driven by entrepreneurship, private investment, and competition. They noted that this consensus is currently under pressure from voices questioning the efficacy of free markets.
The caucus is founded on three principles: advocating for sustained economic growth of at least 3% annually, promoting fiscal responsibility to address the national debt exceeding $36 trillion, and ensuring regulations are thoughtful, reasonable, and narrowly tailored to avoid stifling entrepreneurship.
They aim to serve as a forum for bipartisan engagement to develop solutions for pressing economic issues, emphasizing that America will benefit when both parties are anchored in the belief that growth is good, debt is dangerous, and economic freedom is worth defending. The caucus seeks to reaffirm the success of the American free-enterprise system and secure its future.
