West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari announced that the Centre has allocated Rs 8,500 crore for the state under the VB-G RAM G scheme. Adhikari also flagged significant irregularities in the previous Trinamool Congress government's flagship social welfare programs.
During a program in Nandigram, Adhikari alleged that men received widow pensions and that hundreds of thousands of men received funds under the 'Lakshmir Bhandar' scheme. He further stated that 3,500 fake accounts were created for minority scholarship schemes in Domkal, Murshidabad, and that fake accounts in 'Lakshmir Bhandar' included non-Indians and duplicate voters.
The state government has commenced MGNREGA work, with the Centre providing an initial allocation of Rs 700 crore for 20 days. Adhikari also noted that 89 lakh women have received funds under the Annapurnar Yojana as of June. He emphasized the commitment to transparency to ensure welfare scheme benefits reach genuine beneficiaries.
