Assam fake certificate recruitment scam exposed

According to Additional Deputy Commissioner of Jorhat, Pankaj Bora, the fraudulent activities were detected when recruiting units from the CRPF, Assam Rifles, and CISF requested verification of certificates submitted by their new recruits, who claimed to be residents of Jorhat district. During the verification process, it was found that the submitted certificates were forged. Bora stated that the certificate numbers corresponded to genuine income certificates issued to other individuals, but the documents presented by the recruits were entirely different and fabricated. Furthermore, no applications were ever received or processed for these specific certificate numbers.

Investigations also indicated that some individuals who claimed to be Assam residents had appeared for their examinations in Uttar Pradesh, suggesting they may originate from outside the state. The repeated mention of Naosholia village in the forged documents is being examined, possibly due to its proximity to Central Government security force installations where personnel often reside.

An FIR was lodged at Jorhat Sadar Police Station on May 27, 2026, and an investigation is underway to identify the culprits, determine the extent of the network involved, and cancel any fraudulent appointments.
