Silver Bounces Off Its 2026 Low as Treasury Yields Retreat

StoneX7 hours ago4:50

The silver price rebounded around 2% from its 2026 low as Treasury yields fell, the U.S. dollar eased and a tech selloff fueled safe haven flows. Fiona Cincotta, StoneX Senior Market Analyst, explains how inflation data, Federal Reserve rate hike expectations and Treasury yields are moving silver. Silver dropped around 6% after U.S. CPI inflation came in hotter than expected, with core prices pointing to broader price pressures and markets now pricing around an 87% chance of a Federal Reserve rate hike in December. Higher rate expectations weigh on non-yielding precious metals, but a tech selloff sparked by softer Anthropic revenue growth sent investors into Treasuries and pulled the 10-year yield sharply lower. Silver still trades below its falling trendline and its 50 and 200 EMAs.
