European Gas Storage Is Low yet Every Month Prices the Same

European gas storage is below expected levels, yet the natural gas curve is pricing each month about the same all the way to December. Alex Hodes, StoneX Director Energy Market Strategy, explains how diesel, heating oil and European natural gas supplies line up against winter demand. Diesel and heating oil are extremely closely connected, with cost and the additives that let diesel run cars and trucks as the main differences. Heating oil cannot legally replace diesel because of its emissions, while diesel can stand in for heating oil at a higher cost. A diesel shock is a natural starting point for heating oil supply worries this winter.
