'Will come back to bite us': PM's Japan blunders destroying the nation's relationship

Former NSW trade and investment commissioner Mike Newman warns Prime Minister Anthony Albanese's repeated diplomatic missteps with Japan could seriously damage Australia's reputation and undermine business ties. “That article that was in The Japan Times, I think it found its way into The Australian as well, shows that there are some Japanese out there who are actually quite concerned about the relationship,” Mr Newman told News24 host Andrew Bolt. “Quite frankly, I want to point out just how troubled the relationship is. “I think what needs to happen here is that there is a need for Australians to understand that if we continue on like this, this social leitkultur that the Japanese play so well will come back to bite us."
