News24 host Peta Credlin accuses Veterans Affairs Minister Matt Keogh of failing to show veterans the respect and leadership they deserve. “Veterans, anyone in the defence portfolio areas, whether they’re in a uniform or had once worn a uniform, want to see leadership, want to see respect and will not tolerate weakness,” Ms Credlin said. “The idea of all the people who will come in the door is that you do not do that to veterans, that you sit on your hands with veterans. “They are people that have spent their entire lives working in a command structure that is very orthodox when it comes to symbolism and respect. “Yes, he’s made a decision; he will argue why he needs to have this cap in place. He has to have basically the balls to look the soldiers in the eye and the Veterans in the eye and defend that decision. “It was utter gutlessness; he had his head down at the dispatch box; he didn’t even have the gumption to look across the aisle at the opposition … he is not able to face his opponents because he is shamed and he should be ashamed.”
