The Australian columnist Tom Switzer says the US is going to “great lengths” to make sure its Sunni Gulf allies export oil out of the region while constraining Tehran’s output. “To the extent that continues, that will strangle the Iranian economy,” Mr Switzer told News24 host Chris Kenny. “Bear in mind, Iran has reserves up until March of next year, so it’s a long way off, but if the United States can maintain the naval blockade over the course of the next six or so months, that will put immense pressure on the Mullahs in Iran.”
