President Donald Trump has approved the public execution of former US Navy psychiatrist Nidal Hasan by firing squad, marking the first public execution in the US in 90 years and the first military execution in over 60 years. Hasan killed 13 people in a 2009 shooting rampage at Fort Hood, Texas. The War Secretary announced the execution will be open for public viewing aboard USS Abraham Lincoln. The execution is set to take place at Fort Hood on a Thursday at 1:00 PM, the same time as the original attack, carried out by soldiers with rifles.
