NSW Political Reporter Julia Bradley says NSW One Nation Leader Mike Newman plans to abolish the Independent Planning Commission, which oversees major projects, to reduce the risk of corruption. “If the party was elected to government in the March state election, they’d want to get rid of the Independent Planning Commission,” Ms Bradley said. “This is a body that has been set up in its current form in 2018 under the former Coalition government to take power away from individual ministers and give it to this independent body. “To look at whether to approve major projects, say coal mines that could be deemed controversial. “If this policy was enforced … it would effectively undo decades of reform.”
