Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez has faced backlash as citizens mourn the death of 87-year-old evictee Maricarmen Abascal. On Wednesday, it was reported that the 87-year-old Abascal died following an eviction from her home two weeks ago. Spanish citizens in Madrid honoured Abascal with candles, flowers and an improvised shrine to commemorate the 87-year-old. Following Abascal’s eviction from her apartment, where she had lived for 70 years, during which she was required to be stretchered out, protests erupted across Spain. According to News.com.au, a deal was reached with a real estate firm to allow Abascal to return home, but she sadly died in hospital.
