Tech giants forced to pay for Australian news on their platforms

Senior political reporter for News24 Trudy McIntosh says platforms including LinkedIn will be forced to pay for the Australian news that is on their platform. “They are going to adjust how the platforms are charged,” Ms McIntosh said. “The old rate was 2.25 per cent, that has been increased to 2.5 per cent. “The money that is raised [will be] going towards a journalism payment scheme, effectively providing more funding to smaller players.”
