Rinehart tees up legal options against the ABC

Legal Affairs contributor Chris Meritt says Gina Rinehart has a few options in the face of her legal proceedings against the ABC and their disparaging video about her. “Rinehart’s really got three options: the internal ABC Ombudsman and the associated ACMA complaint mechanism … the real option is in the courts,” he told News24 host James Macpherson. “There’s also the possibility of criminal proceedings … there’s a provision in the Commonwealth Criminal Code against using a carriage service to harass or cause offence. “The defamation option seems to be the strongest.”
