PM backs in Treasurer amid rumours of rift

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese says he’s “very proud” of Treasurer Jim Chalmers and also claims that the way the Labor government functions is “orderly” and follows “proper process”. “We’re a government that work through a proper cabinet process, that has a treasurer who I’m very proud of,” Mr Albanese said during Question Time on Thursday. “[We have] a treasurer that’s promoting reform in the economy, including making sure that we don’t create a society where we have our generation able to own their home and younger generations not able to own their own home. “The way that my government functions is orderly, proper process, proper cabinet government, something that those opposite would not recognise.”
