Ed Sheeran forced to apologise as ‘demand’ reaches new heights for artists to take a stance

News24 host Rita Panahi discusses Ed Sheeran’s on-stage apology and questions the “demand to talk about” the issue of Israel and Palestine and not others in the world. “Why can’t a musician just say, which is what he tried to do, that he didn’t want to bring politics to his shows?” Ms Panahi said. “Why can't he just say this isn’t my area of expertise, even my area of interest? You’re not obliged to care about this issue. “This demand to talk about this particular conflict; there’s no such demands to talk about the massacres in Sudan or the persecutions of Christians in parts of Africa and Asia.”
