‘Deep mistake’: Israel warns Australia against imposing sanctions on settlements in the West Bank

Israel’s ambassador to Australia has warned the Albanese government against imposing broad sanctions on Israeli settlements in the West Bank. Hillel Newman says following Britain with a blanket-style approach would be a “deep mistake”. Foreign Minister Penny Wong says Australia is not pursuing that model currently but is preparing further sanctions targeting illegal settlements and settler violence.
