'Combination of common sense and facts’: Bell defends ON’s proposed 75 per cent tobacco excise cut

One Nation Senator Sean Bell says his party’s push to cut Australia’s tobacco excise by 75 per cent is based on a “combination of common sense and facts”. ​“Look at what happened in Canada…they had a similar issue back in the 90s with rampant crime driven by tobacco, illegal tobacco,” Mr Bell told News24 host Paul Murray. ​“They took a two-tiered approach. Crush the tax, take away the demand, increase law enforcement, and it works. “What an incredible state to be in where you have One Nation, the Coalition, and Chris Minns all on the same page.”
