Nationals Leader Matt Canavan warns the Digital Duty of Care laws would give Labor an undemocratic amount of power. “They just can’t be trusted here to be given an enormous amount of power,” Mr Canavan told News24 host James Macpherson. “This legislation would give the minister the power to decide what’s harmful, and clearly they think what’s harmful, Andrew Leigh said it, is their political opponents. “You can’t, in a free and open democratic society, give the executive government that kind of power to silence and gag their political opponents, which clearly he wants to do.”
