Analyst ‘astonished’ by Australia’s lack of defence urgency as China threat looms

News24 Defence Analyst Peter Jennings says Australia is not learning the most “obvious lessons” from recent and ongoing conflicts around the world. “I’m astonished at how we just seem to be mired in thinking about defence production in five and ten year increments rather than looking at what we can do that’s cheap but large in volume, large numbers,” Mr Jennings told News24 host James Macpherson. ​“There are technologies like that which we could be producing locally, but defence has not turned its mind quickly enough to work out how to achieve that.”
