Albanese lacks the will to take on China despite campaigning on reclaiming Port of Darwin

News24 Defence Analyst Peter Jennings says Prime Minister Anthony Albanese “doesn't want the fight” with China over the Port of Darwin. “This is less to do with the company that’s leasing the port and more to do with the political reality that Beijing understands that having that presence in Darwin is actually slowing down and complicating the ability of the US Marines and the Australian Defence Force to make more use of the port,” Mr Jennings told News24 host James Macpherson. “So Albo will bring it up in the context of the election campaign, but he doesn't really want to have the tough fight with China. “To hear this expression of concern from those American senators in town, I think, is America’s police way of saying to us ‘Australia, you need to get on with this’.”
