Two President's Scholars grateful for opportunity to give back meaningfully to society

President Tharman Shanmugaratnam says Singapore's Public Service plays a critical role in ensuring there's trust in the country's social compact, even as global challenges become increasingly complex. He was speaking at the President's Scholarship award ceremony held at the Istana. Charlene Tan and Samuel Poh are the recipients of the President's Scholarship this year. Charlene is the first female Singapore Police Force scholar to receive the scholarship and she will pursue a Forensic Science degree at Pennsylvania State University. Samuel will be studying at the London School of Economics and Political Science. Nadine Yeam reports.
