Singapore launches trial for e-waste to be dropped off at Pick lockers, Shopee collection points

Singaporeans will have more e-waste collection points to recycle their old devices, under a new six-month trial by public waste collector Alba. Around 2,000 additional drop-off points will be available at Pick lockers and SPX Express locations islandwide. Users can arrange a drop-off through Alba's website or app before depositing their devices at participating locations. Their devices will then be tracked and sent to licensed recyclers, where the data will be securely destroyed. They will receive a certificate once the process is complete. Collections under the national scheme have topped 45,000 tonnes since it began in 2021, but items that don't belong are still turning up in e-waste recycling bins. Eugene Chow reports.
