Singapore labour market: Retrenchments in Q2 hit 5-year high even as employment continues to grow

Retrenchments in Singapore climbed to their highest level in more than five years in the second quarter of this year. According to the Manpower Ministry's latest report, the labour market continued to grow, with total employment extending its streak of quarterly gains. Dr Faizal Yahya from the NUS Institute of Policy Studies discusses how retrenchments can be up even as the job market expands.
