NDR 2026: Singapore to require stronger age checks, safeguards for young social media users

Social media platforms will be required to put in place “robust and reliable” age checks and stronger safeguards for young users amid concerns over problematic social media use, said Prime Minister Lawrence Wong in his National Day Rally speech on Sunday (Aug 23). For age checks, “self-declaration is just not good enough”, he said.
