NDR 2026: Singapore govt to cover cost of all statutory child-related leave

The Singapore government will cover the cost of all statutory child-related leave, up to the reimbursement limit, Prime Minister Lawrence Wong said. This will reduce the financial burden on employers, he said at his National Day Rally speech on Sunday (Aug 23), where he also announced a “significant” increase in childcare leave. With the changes, childcare leave will be tied to the number of children that parents have.
