NDR 2026: More financial support for every Singaporean child and lower childcare fees

Every Singaporean child will receive almost S$70,000 in direct financial support as they grow up, under changes to simplify and enhance support for parents. Speaking during his National Day Rally speech on Sunday (Aug 23), Prime Minister Lawrence Wong said instead of concentrating support at birth and varying it by birth order, every child will receive the same level of support. The government is also working towards lowering fees for government-supported preschools, with the target of full-day childcare fees of S$150 a month, and infant care fees of S$300 per month.
