Retailers are sending their staff for training on how to do business on social commerce platforms. This includes learning livestream selling, as shoppers increasingly seek engagement. Live selling has the advantage of demonstrating products, answering queries and offering real-time promotions. According to a DBS study, social commerce sales will be worth nearly S$8.5 billion in Singapore by 2030 – of which live commerce is expected to account for more than a third. Since the launch of the Jobs-Skills Integrator for Retail in 2023, about 4,500 employees from more than 1,000 retail companies have gone through the process of job redesigning, upscaling and rescaling.
