Japan earthquake: At least 13 killed as rescuers comb through rubble for survivors

Nearly 37,000 homes in Japan’s quake-hit Kumamoto prefecture are without power in the midst of a heatwave. More than 9,000 people are taking shelter in evacuation centres. And a day after the strong earthquake hit, communication services remain disrupted. At least three people among the dead were in a shopping mall that had reopened just last month after renovations. Its owners have promised a thorough inspection into a gas explosion that reportedly occurred after the quake. Michiyo Ishida has more on the latest.
