Indonesia's Prabowo adopts measured tone in key speech: Analyst

The speech acknowledged ongoing challenges while highlighting major government programmes in health, nutrition, education, and economic development. Notably, Mr Prabowo dropped his ambitious 8 per cent growth target in favour of a more realistic 6 per cent goal, which analysts consider achievable if Indonesia maintains fiscal discipline, reduces losses in state-owned enterprises, and manages risks like El Niño. Ms Lau highlights that the president balanced justification of his administration's efforts with recognition of criticism, repeatedly emphasising historic firsts in Indonesian policy.
