An Indian court is allowing Reliance Industries to continue using the description "energy drink" for its Campa brand beverage. That’s at least until the next hearing in about a month’s time. This follows a plea by the company to lift a ban imposed by the food safety regulator in June, on beverage makers branding high-caffeine drinks as "energy drinks". Big names such as PepsiCo and Monster Beverage have also been caught up in enforcement action in a market that is expected to be worth US$1.6 billion by 2028, and they have also won a reprieve. The crackdown is part of India's wider push to address concerns over the risk to health posed by these products. Priyata Brajabasi reports.
