Hundreds detained in nationwide protests over French budget cuts

Protests against the French government's planned budget cuts have swept across the country, with around 200,000 people taking to the streets on Sep 29. More than 400 people were detained, most of them minors, as public sector workers and firefighters joined students in demonstrations and school blockades.
