The number of reserved places in Phase 2C will increase from 40 to 60 in some schools in the 2027 Primary One registration exercise, Singapore's Minister for Education Desmond Lee said on Thursday (Sep 10). There will also be a new two-track scheme in Phase 2C for 12 schools in neighbourhoods where the share of public housing around the school is significantly below the national average, he added. Places under the first track will go to applicants who are living within two kilometres of the school, while places under the second will go to applicants living beyond two kilometres. If there are less applicants than places for one of the tracks, the remaining places will flow to the other track, Mr Lee added. "Together, these two moves seek to broaden access to our primary schools and to enable greater mixing among students from different backgrounds as they learn together," he said.
