Success is preventing the fire, not fighting it: Chan Chun Sing on dealing with problems

“The mark of success is not how well we do the firefighting. The mark of success is very often … how we have prevented the fire in the first place,” said Coordinating Minister for Public Services Chan Chun Sing in parliament on Thursday (Sep 10) during a debate on changes to Singapore’s political salary framework. Reflecting on his years in public service, Mr Chan said success can mean anticipating and preventing problems before the public has to deal with them.
