BRICS summit in India could provide ‘safe space’ for Iran, UAE to engage: Analyst

BRICS leaders are set to meet in India this weekend as the grouping grapples with divisions over the ongoing Middle East conflict. Iran and the United Arab Emirates are both BRICS members, with the UAE having been targeted by Iranian attacks. Sarang Shidore, director of the Global South Program at the Quincy Institute for Responsible Statecraft, says the summit could provide a “safe space” for the two sides to engage and better understand each other’s positions.
