Asian Games 2026: Singapore sprinter Shanti Pereira books spot in 200m final

Sprint queen Shanti Pereira is a step closer to defending her 200-metre crown, after cruising into Sunday's final. Coming out of the heats as the fastest qualifier, Pereira is gunning to be the first woman to win back-to-back Asian Games titles in the event. Alif Amsyar reports from Nagoya. In the Canoe Sprint, Olympian Stephenie Chen fell narrowly short in her bid to win a medal in the women's Kayak Single 500 metres. She clocked a time of 2:00.617 to finish fourth out of eight kayakers. China took gold. In badminton, Singapore's Loh Kean Yew booked his spot in the quarter-finals of the men's singles. The world number 14 made light work of Malaysia's Justin Hoh, winning in straight sets.
