This, in response to an essay published by Anthropic's chief executive - in which he urged companies to scale back the pace of developing increasingly powerful AI models, arguing for closer monitoring and safeguards. China’s state media regards the move as a “Cold War” tactic, aimed at constraining Beijing’s technological rise. AI-linked stocks have fallen across Asia on worries about the billions invested in the sector.
