US Midterm Elections 2026: Americans Gets to Vote on Trump's Second Term

Bloomberg’s Oliver Crook, reporting from New York, outlines the midterm election timeline: New York City polls open at 6 a.m. local time and close at 9 p.m., while the first state polls begin closing around 6 p.m. Eastern. The final polls, in western Alaska, close roughly 23 hours later. With races spanning governors’ offices, the House and Senate across 50 states, results will emerge at different times. Crook says early returns will help show whether polling that has pointed to a potential Democratic “blue wave” reflects the outcome. Recent surveys have shown Democrats improving in several Senate battlegrounds.
