Ukraine peace talks: Putin meets Trump envoys as diplomacy resumes

The United States is making a renewed push to revive peace talks over the war in Ukraine following a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner in Moscow. Putin expressed gratitude to US President Donald Trump for his efforts to help resolve the conflict, while Witkoff described the meeting as significant as Washington seeks to bring Russia and Ukraine back to negotiations. A temporary pause in strikes around Moscow and Kyiv was put in place during the envoys’ visit, allowing the diplomatic mission to proceed. But fighting continued elsewhere, including in Ukraine’s Zaporizhzhia region and Russia’s Belgorod region.
