Masked protesters blockade UK’s Port of Dover over immigration

A group of masked protesters dressed in black blocked traffic at the Port of Dover in the UK, chanting “Stop the boats” during an unannounced demonstration against illegal immigration. The blockade disrupted operations at one of Britain’s busiest ports for several hours and caused significant traffic delays. Local officials and residents criticised the protest, saying the demonstration was intimidating and did not represent the people of Dover. The protest comes amid an ongoing political debate over immigration and small boat crossings in the English Channel. Despite the protesters’ demands, small boat arrivals have reportedly fallen by 44 percent this year. Dover Council Leader Kevin Mills and local residents have condemned the demonstration, while the event has been described as part of the growing UK far-right “patriot movement”. Police made no arrests and instead escorted the protesters to a train station. Al Jazeera’s Camille Nedelec reports from Dover, UK.
